How To Start & Expand Your Amazon FBA Business Globally In 2025
Feb 06, 2025We recently had the pleasure of hosting a very special guest: Maggie from Global Sellers – a dear friend and powerhouse in the world of Amazon FBA, eCommerce, and international expansion. What started as a casual conversation turned into an inspiring and highly practical deep dive into what’s possible for sellers in 2025.
This blog post captures some of the key highlights from our conversation – including Maggie’s incredible backstory, the massive opportunities across Europe, and why global thinking (especially now) could be your competitive edge.
From £40 and a Suitcase to International Business Owner
Maggie’s story is nothing short of inspirational. Originally from Poland, she moved to the UK at just 20 years old with only £40 and a suitcase. She quickly realized her English needed work, so she committed to learning, studied at university in the UK, and began building both her family and her business from the ground up.
Her eCommerce journey started on eBay and Amazon in 2011, long before there were courses, communities, or prep centres to lean on. Like many of us, she started with stock in every room of the house. But through years of persistence, strategic decision-making, and a lot of hard lessons, Maggie and her husband Adrian have built a thriving business that spans the UK, Europe, the US, and Canada.
Today, she runs multiple successful companies, including a prep and fulfilment centre in Poland and a thriving Amazon seller community known as Global Sellers.
Meeting Maggie: From Warsaw to the Systemise Summit
I first met Maggie at a Global Sellers conference in Warsaw earlier this year, where I was honoured to be invited as a guest speaker. The energy, people, and passion at that event were incredible—and it was clear from the start that Maggie was the real deal.
Since then, our paths have crossed many times—from the Systemise Summit in the UK to planning big things for 2025. We recently sat down again to reflect on the year so far, look ahead to what's coming, and talk strategy—especially around European expansion.
Why Europe Is a Huge Opportunity Right Now
One of the core topics we explored was the sheer scale of opportunity across Europe—and why so many sellers are missing out simply because they don’t understand the logistics.
Here are just a few key insights Maggie shared:
-
Europe is under-served: While many sellers head straight for Germany, Maggie encourages sellers to look at France, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Spain, and her native Poland—markets that have demand, but much less competition.
-
Pan-EU advantage: With Amazon’s Pan-European and EFN programs, you can treat Europe almost like one country—if you understand the VAT, compliance, and logistics side.
-
Made in Europe = perceived quality: If you’re doing private label, consider manufacturing in Eastern Europe for shorter lead times, better perceived value, and often fewer quality control issues.
-
Barriers = opportunity: Yes, there’s VAT registration, paperwork, language barriers, and cultural differences. But that’s exactly what makes it a moat. Most sellers won’t go through the effort. Those who do, win.
“There aren’t many Chinese sellers in Europe,” Maggie said. “They don’t want to deal with multiple languages and VAT. That’s your advantage.”
Tactical Tips for Sourcing from Europe
One of the biggest gold nuggets from our chat came when Maggie gave tips for sourcing from European suppliers:
-
Use Google Maps strategically: Search not just “wholesale in Poland” but “wholesale in Kraków,” “wholesale in Wrocław,” and so on—ideally in the local language.
-
Use LinkedIn: Reach out directly to sales reps or owners. Don’t just email info@ addresses. Personal connections win.
-
Build real relationships: Suppliers are more likely to help source a product if you have a purchasing plan and are serious about volume—even more so if you speak their language (or at least try!).
-
Consider VAT registration in Poland: This can open doors and make suppliers more comfortable doing business with you. Use a good agent like AVASK or SimplyVAT to handle the admin.
Focus and Collaboration: The Two Game Changers
Maggie and I both agree: the biggest mistakes sellers make are (1) trying to do too much at once, and (2) trying to do it all alone.
You don’t need to expand into five countries at once. Pick one—learn it, master it, then move on.
And when it comes to buying power and supplier relationships, don’t underestimate the power of collaboration. Working with other sellers to place joint orders or split regional markets could be your ticket to better pricing and bigger margins.
Building a Business That Runs Without You
Maggie’s business today isn’t just big—it’s systemised. She shared how her team works independently, solves problems, and even finds improvements to processes. She’s built a culture of ownership, curiosity, and learning—and it shows.
One of her biggest lessons?
“Don’t be lazy with software. We used to avoid paying for tools. But the right tools can easily pay for themselves many times over.”
What to Do If You’re Just Starting Out
Maggie’s advice to beginners was clear:
-
Immerse yourself in the language and knowledge of the business.
-
Don’t waste time asking vague questions—ask better ones by studying first.
-
Take small, focused steps—don’t try to figure out everything at once.
-
Don’t give up. The hard days come for all of us. Persist anyway.
